LOCAL RULE F-7
As many of you have noticed, Dave and his crew are working hard replacing sod in a number of places on the golf course including the surrounds of greens and several other places in the general playing areas of the course. To accommodate players during this activity the R&H Committee has recommended and the Golf Committee has approved the immediate implementation of Local Rule F-7.
Local Rule F-7
“If a player’s ball lies in or touches a seam of cut turf or a seam interferes with a player’s area of intended swing:
(a) Ball in General Area: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b
(drop, one club length from nearest point of complete relief, in the General Area, no closer to the hole)
(b) Ball on Putting Green: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d.
(placing the original or another ball on the spot of the nearest point of complete relief, either on the Putting Green or in the General Area)
BUT interference does not exist if the seam only interferes with the player’s stance.
All seams within the area of cut turf are treated as the same seam in taking relief. This means that if a player has interference from any seam after dropping the ball, the player must proceed as required under Rule 14.3c(2) even when the ball is still within one club-length of the reference point.”
