DIVOTS, BUNKER RAKING, AND BALL MARK REPAIRS

 image.png

Does this picture look familiar?  Yep it is one of our Fawn Lake Bunkers and confirmed to have been left that way by our own members.  I have recently been approached by a number of members, our Superintendent and Green Committee Chairman on how we can encourage/force members to:
1. Fix divots on the tee box and fairways.
2. Properly rake foot marks and "blast" marks in bunkers.
3. Repair their ball marks on the greens.

As Chairman of the Golf Committee the past two years and FLMG before that, I sent pictures and messages out to the membership regarding these topics along with cart path procedures and proper means of entering and exiting the fairways that met with various responses from "yes I agree", to "there's just nothing we can do" to "don't yell at us" to admonishment for attempts at a humorous message approach to the problems

Well, fellow members, it's a new year and the course is coming into shape wonderfully owing to the cool and damp weather mixed with a little sun for the fairways and the roughs; while the greens are just about ready to be perfect post aeration, sand, dressing, some nice rain and attention by Dave's staff.

But the old bugaboos of unraked sandtraps and unrepaired ball marks remain a pox on our course. I would ask for your personal attention to the details of these two problems and your "professional assertiveness" and peer pressure to your playing partners for their attention as well.  Please check the sand bottles on your cart before you head to the first tee and fix the divots made on tee boxes and in fairways.

As an added incentive and assistance in the proper procedures for raking bunkers and fixing ball marks, please click on and take a few minutes to view the two associated videos that follow:

THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S SUPPORT AND INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION TO THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES FACING OUR COURSE AND COMMITMENT TO TAKING APPROPRIATE ACTIONS, AS NEEDED,  AFTER EVERY SHOT IN EVERY ROUND.
